OUR SUPPORTERS IN CONGRESS ARE SAYING:

“It’s on each and every one of us to stand up against the rising tide of hate targeting the transgender community across this country. Nowhere is that more apparent than in the halls of Congress, and I’ll continue to use my voice and my vote to ensure that trans Americans have the same rights and freedoms as their neighbors,” said Senator Andy Kim.

“As we steady ourselves for a hostile administration and Republican Congress poised to continue their relentless attacks against the trans community and LGBTQIA+ folks writ-large, it's more imperative than ever that Democrats stand in the gap. I'm proud to help launch the Christopher Street Project and continue building a more just America where our trans siblings are treated with respect, receive the healthcare they need, and can live their lives free from discrimination and violence,” said Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley.

“Trump and MAGA Republicans are hell-bent on scapegoating trans people to distract everyday Americans from their extremist agenda that puts their billionaire friends first. Demonizing trans people won't lower our taxes, it won't create jobs, and it won't make us safer. I stand ready with my Democratic colleagues to reject politics of division. I look forward to working with Christopher Street Project to protect our trans siblings’ right to happy, healthy, and safe lives,” said Congresswoman Delia Ramirez.

“As a proud advocate and defender of the trans community in Texas and beyond, I have experienced the growing right-wing attacks on trans children and their families as if they are attacks on my own family. Children deserve our love, protection, and support no matter their gender identity. But too many individuals on the right (including my own House colleagues) only see trans children as political tools and talking points—not as human beings who just want to grow up and live their lives. I am grateful to see new organizations like the Christopher Street Project rising to meet this moment and provide insight, guidance, and education on the fight for trans rights,” said Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett.

“Trans people, like all people, deserve to live with equal rights and human dignity. The hateful policies being pushed by far-right Republicans across our country have dangerous consequences. This Congress, we will continue to fight against anti-trans legislation and work to build a country where every American lives free from discrimination. Republican extremists need to stay out of our families' private decisions and stop policing our bodies. From reproductive freedom to health care for trans people, every American deserves the right to make decisions about their own bodies,” said Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib.

Count me in, Christopher Street Project! I’m Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky. I represent the 9th Congressional District in Illinois, and I am with you all the way. Now, you might think that’s because I have a trans grandson, which I do. But long before that too, I was very involved in the LGBTQ community. In 2015, I was inducted into the Chicago LGBTQ Hall of Fame. And the idea of justice for everyone — you’re doing it,” said Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky.

“As we approach another Trump administration, it’s so important to fight transphobia together and celebrate the incredible heroes of the trans community. I think of heroes like Bobby Bruch. A longtime educator, school board member, and city council member, Bobby has been a pillar of my congressional district for decades. Bobby transitioned many years ago and it was so heartening to witness the overwhelming support she received. Bobby continues to inspire me and so many others to fight for what we believe in and be the most authentic versions of ourselves. And while we may be in scary times, the work of the Christopher Street Project will be so important to both protect and celebrate the trans community,” said Congresswoman Judy Chu.

Trans rights are human rights, and every human being has a right to be free of harassment, free of hate, free of harm,” said Congressman Al Green.

TRANS RIGHTS LEADERS ARE SAYING:

“As an intersex Latina and the Executive Director of El/La Para TransLatinas, I know firsthand the strength and courage it takes to fight for our dignity and survival. The Christopher Street Project is a beacon of hope and action for our community—organizing to protect our children and our community, defend our rights, and demand the freedom to live without fear or harassment. This is personal for all of us who have faced discrimination and oppression. It’s time to hold all our leaders accountable and build a future where transgender people are not just tolerated but celebrated. We at El/La are proud to stand with the Christopher Street Project in this fight for justice and liberation,” said Nicole Santamaria, Executive Director of El/La Para TransLatinas.

“In 2025, it's critical to bolster support from Democrats in support of transgender rights. Over the past 4 years we have seen an explosive increase in anti-LGBTQ+ legislation within state legislatures and this is the year those bills go to the national level. We need fast, swift, decisive action to defend transgender rights in the U.S. Capitol and I'm thrilled to see an organization like Christopher Street Project coming together to do just that,” said Allison Chapman, National LGBTQ+ Legislative Researcher and Activist.

“It is imperative that we hold our representatives accountable as we sink further into these unprecedented times. Many in the transgender community are fearful, and also, many of us are determined to continue to find and share joy as our authentic selves. We need allies at our side to uplift us, stand up for us, and work with us toward a more equitable future. We need these allies more than ever to continue fighting with us, including and especially those we have elected to represent us. Our children deserve a safe, loving ability to explore and express themselves, and our elders deserve to exist peacefully without the continuing fight for betterment. I look forward to seeing the ripple effect of the work that the Christopher Street Project will do,” said Dani Chase, they/them, Author of The Trans Ally Workbook.

“The Global Trans Equity Project (GTEP) proudly stands in solidarity with the Christopher Street Project, an urgent and necessary initiative to safeguard the rights, dignity, and freedom of transgender individuals across our nation. As an organization committed to advancing health equity, advocating for inclusive policies, and fostering systemic change, GTEP recognizes the immense challenges facing transgender and non-binary people today. The Christopher Street Project represents a critical step in amplifying the voices of those most affected by anti-trans legislation and the erasure of our rights. The Christopher Street Project aligns with GTEP's mission to champion global inclusion and equity through advocacy, research, and education. This project not only underscores the resilience of our community but also highlights the collective action needed to dismantle the barriers that impede transgender people's right to live authentically and thrive," said Dr. Elijah Nicholas, Founder & Executive Director, The Global Trans Equity Project (GTEP).

“Trans rights are human rights, just like anyone else — and anyone who refuses to unequivocally stand up for trans rights is showing that they think our lives and basic human rights matter less. It’s completely antithetical to the role of an elected official, which is to represent everyone. That’s why we need Christopher Street Project; we need people in Washington willing to name that fact and stand on it. To unapologetically and unconditionally support our basic rights, to proudly fight for our human rights. I know that they will, and that’s why I’m proud to support them,” said Rabbi Abby Stein.
